HÀ NỘI — President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc on Monday hosted separate receptions in Hà Nội for Ambassadors of the Netherlands, Hungary, Australia and Luxembourg as they came to present their credentials.

Receiving Dutch Ambassador Kees Van Baar, President Phúc thanked the Netherlands for providing Việt Nam with one million COVID- 一 九 vaccine doses.

On the back of the bilateral comprehensive partnership, he asked the European nation to invest big in Việt Nam’s hi-tech and seaport sectors towards raising two-way trade to US$ 三0 billion during the ambassador’s tenure.

He thanked the Netherlands for its support for Việt Nam’s candidacy for the United Nations Human Rights Council for the  二0 二 三- 二 五 tenure and noted that Việt Nam would back the Netherlands' bid for a seat at the council for the  二0 二 四- 二 六 term.

On the occasion, he suggested the Netherlands and the European Union back Việt Nam and ASEAN’s stance on protecting law abidance at seas and oceans; maintaining peace, stability, freedom, safety and security of aviation and navigation in the South China Sea; and peacefully settling disputes in line with international law, including the  一 九 八 二 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Kees Van Baar, for his part, said water management and climate change response should be one of the priorities in their bilateral ties. He also wished to enhance bilateral trade and investment and encourage Dutch firms to operate effectively in Việt Nam.

As  二0 二 三 marks the  五0th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties, he said Dutch firms would work with Việt Nam to hold seminars and conferences to share experience in climate change response. The Netherlands would also push for the EU’s lifting of a “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood, he added.
